In the early 1950s, Hugh Kroetsch worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company as a fur trader and filmed his adventures. Decades later, his filmmaker son Frederick Kroetsch discovered the footage in his parents’ basement. They decide to return to the same remote communities in the Western Arctic to show it, and to make a documentary about the experience. After the screening, Frederick will present Adventures in Filmmaking, a behind-the-scenes look at how the film was made, from pitching the project to broadcasters to the challenges of low budget filmmaking in remote places.
