Presented by Q99 and the Prairie Mall, this 85-minute package includes the 5 Academy Award nominated films for Best Animated Short as well as 4 highly commended films. Two of the nominated films are foreign language films with English subtitles: MEMORABLE (French) and SISTER (Chinese). Four of the nominated films focus on family relationships: father-daughter (DAUGHTER and HAIR LOVE), brother-sister (SISTER), and husband-wife (MEMORABLE). The fifth is a touching Pixar film (KITBULL) about the friendship that develops between a stray kitten and a pit bull. Two of the nominated films have light-hearted comedic moments (HAIR LOVE and KITBULL) that balance more serious themes. One of the four highly commended films (HORS PISTE) is a black comedy.
