With less than 3 weeks remaining until our submission deadline of Dec 16 for the next Reel Shorts Film Festival May 7-11, 2014, we’ve received 282 submissions. There’s usually a big batch that come in just before the deadline and our programming team is eager for more!
New this year is that we’re accepting online submissions (click here for more details). What hasn’t changed is that there’s no submission fee and we pay screening fees for the films that we select. But best of all, we have enthusiastic audiences who love the films and relish the challenge of trying to pick their favorite which will ultimately determine the Audience Choice Award winner. Of the 102 films from 22 countries that screened at our 2013 festival, 21 were selected from 365 submissions that came from 41 countries, 79 were selected from 619 films that were considered from other sources (film festivals, distributors, or filmmakers from whom we requested screeners), and 2 were produced by our festival (The Horizon Project and HB).
So filmmakers, if you have a short film made after Jan 1, 2012 that you think would be great for our festival, please submit it! Here’s one that was submitted to us last year that was a delight to include in our program – Shanghai Love Market.
